Location:Ma’an GovernorateClient:United Nations Development ProgrammeDescription of Project:Conduct analysis of environmental impact assessment for the Construction of Composting Plant in Ayl Municipality – Ma’an Governorate.The project “establishment of the plant” designed to address climate change mitigation measures in Jordan and particularly in the Southern Region, through controlling the impact of landfilling waste and introducing the circular and green economy instead, to create income generation opportunities and improve livelihood opportunities for the local community including women and youth.The outcome of the ESIA study shall help to decide whether the project may be implemented and what impact would the development have on the environment, natural, social and economic aspects along with the mitigation measures to be taken into consideration during the design, construction and operation of the facility.Services Provided:Prepare ESIA study through the following stages:
Scoping Study, the consultant shall conduct scoping sessions (one at the locality of the project and one in Amman) to solicit views and ideas about the project, which may help, assess potential environmental and social impacts and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
Social Survey, conduct a survey covering 24 households nearest to the project area and three relevant CBOs and environmental specialized entities.
ESIA Study; prepare description of the Environment (Baseline Studies), Assessment of Valued Environmental Components (VECS) and Mitigation Measures, and prepare Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP)
